Educational Needs Addressed:
Training in virtual colonoscopy during residency and even fellowship has been limited to a few institutions that are considered leaders in the field. The average practicing radiologist is intimidated by this new test and, thus, post-graduate training is considered a good means for gaining the knowledge and achieving the necessary confidence level.

Educational Objectives:
The purpose of this fellowship is for the participant:

1) To understand the rationale for performing virtual colonoscopy examinations, as well as the advantages and disadvantages when compared to other methods for examining the colon.
2) To review the available data regarding diagnostic performance of virtual colonoscopy.
3) To learn the fundamental components of virtual colonoscopy technique.
4) To become familiar with interpretation and reporting of virtual colonoscopy examinations in clinical practice.
5) To learn how to avoid pitfalls and mistakes commonly made by the radiologist inexperienced in virtual colonoscopy.
6) To understand the key factors to be considered when developing a virtual colonoscopy program for diagnosis and screening.
